Mt. Bandai, a famous peak in Fukushima, also known as Aizu Fuji
An active volcano also known as Aizu Fuji
Mount Bandai is one of the active volcanoes in Fukushima Prefecture, and its base is about 10km wide
It is known for its beautiful mountain shape and is also known as Aizu Fuji. Its 1,816 meter elevation has risen and fallen over the years of volcanic activity, sometimes causing large-scale collapses. Although it is difficult during volcanic activity, it is normally blessed with abundant volcanic blessings, and is famous as one of Fukushima Prefecture's leading tourist destinations

Mt. Bandai looks completely different on the north and south sides, making its varied topography fascinating. The landscape known as Aizu Fuji is most striking when viewed from the south. It is characterized by its pyramidal shape, with its graceful base spreading out towards the volcanic foothills. It blends beautifully with the surrounding countryside and buckwheat fields, making it a great subject for photography in any season. The central part of the north side has collapsed severely, creating a caldera topography. Volcanic activity at Mt. Bandai began at least tens of thousands of years ago. Ancient eruptions formed the framework of Mt. Bandai's mountains and gave birth to the general mountain range
The most famous recent eruption was the great 1888 eruption, and its style is known worldwide in the field of volcanology. When a large explosion occurred and the mountain began to collapse, a debris avalanche reached the foot of the mountain. This debris avalanche claimed many lives, but the river was dammed at the time, creating the landscape of Lake Urabandai. The area around the lake, which was created by a major eruption in the Meiji era, is now known as one of the most beautiful spots in the country to view autumn leaves
The contrast between the rugged caldera topography and the allure of the lake's complex colors creates a synergistically wonderful allure for Urabandai. Many leisure spots are dotted around Mount Bandai, welcoming many tourists from inside and outside Fukushima Prefecture. In the winter, many people visit the ski resorts, but the hot springs around Mount Bandai are equally popular. In the summer, many climbers visit Mount Bandai, and you can see them admiring the graceful alpine plants
