On July 15, 1987 , the Sendai Municipal Subway's Namboku Line opened.

As the name suggests, this line connects the north and south of Sendai city, with 17 stations along the 14.8 km (operating kilometers) between Izumi Chuo Station in the north and Tomizawa Station in the south
