The day the civilian airport "Sendai Airport" was born (Miyagi Prefecture)

On April 22, 1957 (Showa 32), the civilian airport "Sendai Airfield" was established on the site of "Yanome Airfield,"  which had been returned by GHQ (General Headquarters of the Allied Powers)

The first scheduled route, the Tokyo-Haneda flight of Japan Helicopter Transport (now All Nippon Airways "ANA"), was launched

The inaugural flight was operated by the British company de Havilland, using a four-engine, piston-engine passenger aircraft called the "DH.114 Heron , " which was affectionately known as the "White Heron."
