Nanbu Nobunao, the 26th head of the Nanbu clan,isconsidered the founder of the Morioka Domain (Nanbu Domain) and the restorer of the Nanbu clan.

He was born on March 1, 1546(April 1, 1546) at Ippoi Castle in Iwate County (present-day Iwate Town, Iwate County, Iwate Prefecture) as the eldest illegitimate son of Ishikawa Takanobu, the second son of Nanbu Masayasu, the 22nd head of the Nanbu family.
