This time, we actually visited Iwakisan Shrine, which is known as the most powerful power spot in Aomori Prefecture, to see if it really is a power spot!

Iwakiyama Shrine, beloved by locals

Iwakiyama Shrine,Tsugaru Fujialso known asa shrine located at the foot of Mount Iwaki.

Locals refer to it as "Oyama" or "Oiwa-sama," andapproximately 1200 yearsafter its founding, it continues to receive deep reverence from the people of Tsugaru.

As it is the Ichinomiya of Tsugaru, many people come to worship there at all times, regardless of the season or event

There is a constant stream of people who visit the shrine at important times in life, as it is said to grant good fortune in various fields, including agriculture and fishing, commerce, industry, medicine, and transportation

Famous as the god of matchmaking

In recent years, the shrine has become a popular date spot for couples as it is said to bring good luck in finding love, but in fact, it is said that couples should avoid visiting together

Apparently, the Iwakiyama Shrine is dedicated to a female deity, and it's said that she gets jealous if couples visit together...

It has long been rumored that couples who visit Iwakisan Shrine will break up, so it may be best to avoid visiting on a date

This shrine lends strength to women seeking a good relationship or reconciliation, so I would recommend it to women looking to meet someone

The five gods of Iwakiyama Shrine

The following five gods are enshrined at Iwakisan Shrine

  • Awakening Spirit of the Nation
  • Tatubihime God
  • Uganome-no-kami
  • Oyamatsumi God
  • Sakanoue Karitamaru no Mikoto

When you enter Iwakisan Shrine and pass through the white torii gate, you will see a large sacred tree on your right. If you look closely, you will see that it is a single cedar tree that has branched into five branches

It is a sacred tree called Gohonsugi, and it has been said that this name comes from the fact that Iwakisan Shrine enshrines five gods

Here is a little about the five gods

Utsukunitama no Kami (Okuninushi no Mikoto)

The god of nation building

It is also said to bring benefits in areas such as agriculture, commerce, and medicine

Tatsubhime-no-kami

A goddess who also appears in Japanese mythology

He is the god of water and brings joyous blessings to women, such as safe childbirth, child-rearing, and beauty

Ukanome-no-kami

Toyouke-no-Okami is also known as the chief deity of the Geku Shrine of Ise Jingu

He is famous as the guardian deity of food, clothing, shelter, and industry, but at Iwakiyama Shrine, he is said to be the god who primarily supported the development of rice farming

Oyamatsumi-no-Kami

A god who also appears in Japanese mythology

He is the god who governs Mt. Oyama and financial luck, and has supported the development of the Tsugaru region, which spreads out at the foot of Mt. Iwaki

Sakanoue no Karitamarō no Mikoto

He was the father of Sakanoue no Tamuramaro and the only real person to have existed

That is why it is called "life" and not "god."

The highlights of Iwakiyama Shrine

Iwakisan Shrine has many power spots, including the Five Cedars

Among them, we will introduce three spots that we feel are particularly beneficial, so be sure to check them out when you visit Iwakisan Shrine!

Three-headed dragon chozuya

The first spot I'd like you to pay attention tothe water basin with a three-headed dragon.

Water gushes out of the dragon's mouth, and this water is spring water flowing from Mount Iwaki. It can be used to cleanse your hands, and apparently, it's also safe to drink.

Since this spring water flows from the majestic Mt. Iwaki, it seems to have a lot of power. Some people who come to worship fill plastic containers with this spring water and take it home with them. It's cool even in the middle of summer, and it's refreshing after walking the long approach to the shrine

However,it is not recommended to drink it raw, so please boil it before drinking if possible.

Komainu in front of the tower gate

After purifying yourself at the Chozuya (purification fountain), you'll finally want to head to the worship hall, but before that, check out the power spots on both sides of the Sakuramon Gate

On either side of the entrance to the Sakuramon gate"inverted lion-dogs,"are guardian lion-dogs known as

upward-facing guardian lion statuesbring good fortune, and there were many coins placed as offerings.

On the other hand, the downward-facing guardian lion statuesto bring good fortune in love, making them very popular with women.

Many people stroke the heads and take photos with the statues, and it is said that you will receive even more blessings if you set a picture of this lion dog as your mobile phone wallpaper

Hakuun Dairyu Shrine

The last power spot I'll introducethe Shirakumo Dairyu Shrine.

Shirakumo Dairyu Shrine enshrines the Dragon God, and nearby"White Snake Pond"there is a pond called

Since dragons and snakes have long been considered synonymous, offer eggs, some worshippers

In stark contrast to the main hall of Iwakisan Shrine, it has a mystical atmosphere that makes you feel like you've traveled to another world
