Hiraizumi World Heritage Day (Iwate Prefecture)

The Hiraizumi area in Nishiiwai District, Iwate Prefecture , was registered as UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site June 29, 2011 , under the name "Hiraizumi – Temples, Gardens and Archaeological Sites Representing the Buddhist Pure Land."

To commemorate this, Iwate Prefecture has designated June 29th " Hiraizumi World Heritage Day
