At Zuiganji Temple in Matsushima Town, Miyagi Prefecture, an annual (Gizan-ko-ki) will be held for Date Tadamune retainers who died alongside Tadamune .

Tadamune, who succeeded the Sendai domain after the death of its first lord, Date Masamune, worked to solidify the domain's status and foundation, and was praised as a "wise ruler who defended it."

He was also active in the construction of temples and shrines, and built many others, including Zuihoden and Zuiho-ji Temple, the mausoleum of Masamune, as well as Hakusan Shrine, Manpuku-ji Temple, Kosho-ji Temple, and Atago Shrine. In 1654, the Tosho-gu Shrine was transferred and relocated over a period of six years, resulting in the creation of the present-day Sendai Tosho-gu Shrine

The Sendai Festival, which was held as part of the festival at Sendai Toshogu Shrine in 1655, has been passed down to the present day as the Sendai Aoba Festival
