[Iwate Prefecture] Soul food of Morioka citizens? "Fukuda Pan" Coppepan

If you come to Morioka City, Iwate Prefecture, you must try Fukuda Pan. Fukuda bread is soul food for Morioka people.

It is so ingrained in our daily lives that I think there are probably less than 30% of people living in Morioka who have never eaten it. This time, let's introduce Morioka's local bread "Fukuda Pan"

What is Fukuda bread?

Fukuda Pan Nagatamachi main store is located 15 minutes walk from Morioka Station, right on the street between the city and residential areas. The store is modeled after a school building from the good old days, and not only the exterior but also the interior is thoroughly school-like.

You can also feel the attention to detail in the blackboard-style ``Oshinagaki'' above the sales counter in front of you when you enter the store.

Founded in 1948. The first president, Tomekichi Fukuda, was a student of Kenji Miyazawa.

His original Coppépan, which he developed to fulfill his desire to satisfy students at a low price, has now become an indispensable flavor in Morioka.

Due to its location, not far from the station and at the same time just a stone's throw from Iwate University and Iwate Medical University, it is common for the food to be sold out by mid-afternoon even on weekdays. The long lines that form just before the store opens can be said to be a specialty of Morioka!

Its special feature its menu of over 50 types .

The blackboard-style layout of the fillings lined up inside the halved koppepan is truly impressive. You can just order this, but we also recommend having it coated with two different toppings.

In fact, at Fukuda Pan, you can have different ingredients spread on the top and bottom of the koppepan, which is cut in half. In this way, there are more than 50 flavors! With this much, you won't get tired of eating it every day!

If you go to Iwate, let's go to the supermarket!

Also, if you are traveling to Iwate Prefecture, I recommend checking out the supermarkets as well.

Surprisingly, Fukuda Pan's sales staff actually go to stores such as Universe and Fal in the Morioka area, and Aeon and Max Valu in Iwate Prefecture to conduct demonstration sales.

They sell ingredients brought to the supermarket and spread on bread on the spot, but of course you can also make requests from here! You are limited to the standard ingredients you bring with you, but you can even have two types applied.

There are some flavors that can only be enjoyed at the directly managed store, but the sight of the staff skillfully applying the toppings on the bread is a unique Morioka sight that you won't see anywhere else. I don't go there every day, but if you're lucky enough to find one, please take the plunge and request it!
