Fukushima Senbero

If you're looking for "senbero" on Nakadori in Fukushima Prefecture, these five places are the place to go!

Fukushima Prefecture, the third largest in Japan, is divided into three regions by the Ou Mountains and Abukuma Highlands, which stretch from north to south

The Nakadori region, located in the middle of the prefecture and through which the Tohoku Shinkansen Line passes, is home to Fukushima City, where the prefectural government is located, and Koriyama City, the second most populous city in the prefecture. Approximately 60% of Fukushima Prefecture's population lives here, and there is a lot of traffic from both the Kanto and Tohoku regions

In addition, in places where these people gather, there are also "senbero bars" where you can enjoy alcohol at a casual price

In this article, we will introduce three "senbero" bars around Fukushima Station and two around Koriyama Station

What is the definition of “senbero”?

The word originally referred to a bar where you could get very drunk for 1,000 yen, but now it has come to mean a bar where you can get 2 to 3 drinks and snacks for 1,000 yen.

In this article, we have defined the criteria for certification as a "Senbero" bar as follows.

  • You can order two glasses of alcohol (type and quantity are free) and one snack in addition to the appetizer and drink it for less than 1,000 yen.
  • Set prices such as "Senbero Set" are available for less than 1,000 yen.
  • Family restaurants where you can eat rice crackers are not eligible.

We also introduce sets that cost less than 1,500 yen as "high-priced rice crackers," but we appreciate your understanding.

Please note that prices in the article include tax unless otherwise stated and are as of the end of September 2023.
