This time, we will introduce Mushi Tech World's summer vacation programs that are both fun and educational. You will surely find a program that is perfect for the theme of your summer vacation independent research project
The first director of Mushi Tech World was Takeshi Yoro

Mushi Tech World opened in 2001, utilizing the facilities that had previously been used as the "Why Not Museum" at the 2001 Utsukushima Future Expo
The first director was Takeshi Yoro famous for "The Wall of Idiots ." (Currently, he is Honorary Director.)
Takeshi Yoro, an anatomist who continues to collect and research insects, visits the museum almost every year to interact with children as a lecturer for special courses
How to enjoy Mushi Tech World

Why Land?
One of the main attractions , "Why Land," is an exhibition space that aims to allow visitors to experience the richness and importance of the blessings of nature and forests through the eyes of insects, and to promote progressive learning "from insects to science." The museum introduces the mysterious ecology of insects based on 12 "whys."
There are exhibits such as large dragonfly and spider models, and a theater that reveals the secrets of insect mouthparts, making you feel as if you have entered the world of insects
There are plenty of interactive exhibits that will pique your curiosity, enticing visitors of all ages, from children to adults, as they can learn about the animals' ecology in detail
Science Stage

You might have the image that "Mushi Tech World = insects," but in fact, even people who don't like insects can enjoy Mushi Tech World!
At the Science Stage of Mushi Tech World, a fun, interactive live experiment show is held.
This experimental science show aims to spark interest in science, allowing both children and adults to enter a mysterious world and deepen their understanding of science in a fun way
During the show, you may be asked to help out by people in the venue, so please try to get involved. You'll get to experience something mysterious up close, which will double the fun
I actually don't like insects, but I'm grateful that there is an experimental show that can be enjoyed regardless of whether you're into insects or not
SUKAGAWA Flight Academy
Mushi Tech World has a permanent flight simulator where you can experience simulated airplane flight training . An experimental cockpit of a DC-9-41 aircraft is on display, and you can experience a sightseeing flight around Fukushima Airport, which is nearby.
- Personal flight simulator: 100 yen per use
- Scenic flight course: 200 yen per trip
biotope

There is a biotope on the facility grounds where you can search for and observe the aquatic insects and other aquatic creatures that live there
It's a valuable experience to be able to observe creatures that we don't normally come into contact with in our daily lives
Solving independent research problems with our summer vacation program
Mushi Tech World holds experience programs every day during the summer vacation period, except on closed days
Programs such as the "Crafts Program," "Experiment Program," and "Nature Experience Program" are fun and educational for children and adults alike, and are perfect for children and parents who are wondering what to do for their summer vacation independent study!
For example, in the "Crafts Program," children can use plastic bottles to make rockets that fly using the power of water and air, make slime, and create liquid kaleidoscopes.
In the "Experiment Program," they can make ice cream and observe how popcorn pops.
The "Nature Experience Program" is an outdoor activity where children can observe, catch, and learn the names of creatures around Mushi Tech World.
Each program lasts approximately 50 minutes. Each program is divided into four levels of difficulty, from "for toddlers and above" to "for upper elementary school students," so you can find a program that suits your child's age.
Costs vary depending on the content of the program, from free to a few hundred yen for materials, but as a parent, not having to buy materials is a great thing!
Details of the summer vacation programs can be found on
the website Please note that reservation-only programs require advance phone reservations. There are also programs that are open to everyone and do not require reservations, so you can enjoy a spontaneous visit!
When my child visited Mushi Tech World, he happened to participate in an experiment and submitted it as an independent research project. This was really helpful as the end of summer vacation was fast approaching.
Between August 11th and August 17th, there will be programs that do not require advance reservations. You will need a numbered ticket on the day, which is available on a first-come, first-served basis, but since no reservations are required, it's a good idea to go during this period!
Mushi Tech World is fun during summer vacation
Mushi Tech World hosts a variety of events based on the concept of getting both adults and children familiar with science and insects. Even if you
're not a fan of insects, there's plenty to enjoy, including hands-on programs you can join on the day and a flight simulator. There's also a restaurant on-site, so you can spend the whole day having fun.
Deciding what theme to choose for independent research can be a struggle for both children and parents. Mushi Tech World has a wide range of programs, so you're sure to find an experiment, craft, or experience that suits your child's interests!
