A pilgrimage route involves visiting sacred sites and temples throughout Japan in a specific order. The famous Shikoku88 Templeis one such pilgrimage route.

There are many sacred sites in the Tohoku region, but this time we will introduce sacred sites related to the zodiac in Aomori Prefecture

Tsugaru Ichidaisama Zodiac Pilgrimage Site

Tsugaru Ichidai-samais a pilgrimage route centered around Hirosaki City in Aomori Prefecture, a former castle town, where people visit the guardian deities of their birth year, corresponding to the twelve signs of the Chinese zodiac. There are nine pilgrimage sites, but for some reason, there are two sites for the Year of the Rabbit.

It is said that it is best to visit the shrine mainly during New Year's or Lunar New Year, so it might be a good idea to visit during your first visit of the year
