[Inawashiro Town, Fukushima Prefecture] Get in touch with nature at Bandai Plateau Minamigaoka Farm

Bandai Kogen Minamigaoka Farm is an open farm with a panoramic view of Mt. Bandai. A variety of dairy products made from the milk of the rare Guernsey cow are popular in Japan. This time I will tell you about my visit to Minamigaoka Ranch, which has the best location.

Inawashiro town where Minamigaoka Farm is located

Inawashiro Town is located in the Aizu region of Fukushima Prefecture, and the area around the town's symbols, Lake Inawashiro and Mt. Bandai, is known as a leading resort and hot spring area.
It is one of the prefecture's leading tourist destinations, with many sightseeing and recreational opportunities such as nature exploration such as the Hideyo Noguchi Memorial Museum and Mt. Bandai Geopark, and swimming in Lake Inawashiro.

free entrance! Bandai Kogen Minamigaoka Farm where you can enjoy nature

Bandai Kogen Minamigaoka Farm is located on a plateau near Lake Inawashiro. The plaza near the lodge restaurant where you can see Mt. Bandai has a nice view and a pleasant space. It's a perfect photo spot.

Minamigaoka Farm is open to the public with free admission and free parking, symbolizing the words of the first owner, ``Why do we charge admission fees from people who visit our home?''
Leisure facilities are surprisingly expensive. I'm very grateful to be able to enter for free.

Meals include the farm's standard Genghis Khan and homemade ice cream, as well as Minamigaoka Farm's specialty, Peroshiki. (Apparently it's not piroshki.)

The vast grounds offer a play space unique to a tourist farm that blends into the natural landscape. There is also a place where you can interact with animals such as cows, horses, donkeys, and rabbits, as well as play facilities for putter golf and archery, so you can enjoy a full day of nature experiences.

Recreation at Minamigaoka Ranch

When you think of a farm, you're talking about interacting with animals. At Minamigaoka Farm, you can interact with animals such as cows, sheep, donkeys, and goats.

Sheep, goats, rabbits, and other animals are released in the fenced "Fureai Plaza."

Entrance fee to Fureai Square is 300 yen per person.is. There is no time limit, so you can feed and interact with the animals until you are satisfied.

Bait is sold in gacha gacha. The goats are a little aggressive when it comes to asking for food, so the kids were a bit scared. My second son seemed to like rabbits!

If you go deep into the farm, there is a course where you can try horseback riding.
Horseback riding is available for children aged 6 and over and costs 850 yen per course. A donkey ride for children aged 3 to 6 costs 850 yen for 3 minutes. It's yen. You can enjoy a relaxing and elegant horseback riding experience.

Putter golf is 800 yen per course.. The 18-hole course with its many ups and downs is quite difficult. The course takes advantage of the shape of the forest, so no matter how many times you play the course where there are cups on the slope, the ball will roll. On the other hand, on a course where there is a cup at the bottom of the slope, you will be off course in one shot! However, the children did not give up and in fact had fun.

Archery is something that adults are more interested in than children.800 yen for 12 bottles at a timeYou can experience it at
Archery is serious so it may be difficult for small children. Adults are more into it. After all, if you hit the target, you'll receive a free soft serve ice cream!
Although I ended up purchasing it with my own money, I was able to enjoy it even more as a child.

Minamigaoka Farm also offers plenty of activities that take advantage of Aizu's winter climate.During the winter, you can also try snowboarding on a banana boat or riding a snowmobile. It's also great to experience activities that are unique to winter. (Reservations are required)

Eating at Minamigaoka Farm

At the lodge restaurant, which can accommodate 300 people, you can enjoy authentic Russian cuisine such as ``borscht'', ``peroshki'', and home-made ``black bread'', which ranchers learned during the Manchurian pioneer era.

My top recommendations are the soft serve ice cream and ice cream made with Guernsey milk raised on the farm.

The milk at Minamigaoka Farm comes from Guernsey cows, which are rare in Japan. Both soft serve and ice cream are very milky and rich. Eating ice cream while looking at Mt. Bandai was the best. This is a must-try dish when you visit.

The Guernsey cows raised on the farm are rare, with only about 200 cows being bred in Japan.

Compared to Holsteins, it produces less milk, but has a richer milk component, and is characterized by a rich, sweet, and creamy texture. At the souvenir corner, you can also purchase milk jam and cheese made with the milk of our proud Guernsey cows.

Experience at Minamigaoka Farm

At Minamigaoka Farm, you can try your hand at butter making, ice cream making, and Akabeko painting, which is unique to Aizu. Each experience takes about 10 to 20 minutes, so it's perfect for making memories of your trip to Aizu. (Reservations are required)

Minamigaoka Farm Summary

At Minamigaoka Farm, you can interact with animals that you would not normally experience in your daily life, or take a leisurely walk around the spacious farm surrounded by nature.
You can also meet many insects in the forest on the farm. The view of Mt. Bandai from the square in front of the lodge is spectacular. Both adults and children are welcome to come and enjoy a relaxing nature experience without worrying about time.
