[Sukagawa, Fukushima Prefecture] "Mushitech World" is an experiential facility where you can learn everything from insects to science! Become a pilot and fly over Fukushima
table of contents
Mushitech World is located in Sukagawa City, Fukushima Prefecture.
This is an experiential facility where you can learn about a wide range of nature and science, starting with the ecology of insects. Officially, it is the Fukushima Morino Science Experience Center. However, it is more often referred to as Mushitech World.
The building is a two-story building with an outdoor experience corner. Events are planned many times a year. It's a spot that can be enjoyed not only by boys but also by girls and adults.
Sukagawa City is a town of insects and Ultraman
Speaking of Sukagawa City, it is also famous as the town of Ultraman. It is a sister city to Ultraman's hometown.
It's a town where you can meet insects and Ultraman, so many boys are excited. This time, we will leave Ultraman aside and focus on the insect world of Mushitech.
Mushitech World 1st floor
I wonder why Rand's insects are super large?
On the first floor of the building, there is an area called ``Whydara Land.'' Here you can learn about the ecology of insects.
Insects such as dragonflies, spiders, and bees are on display. Are there any dragonflies with horns? Why don't spiders stick to their webs? Are there any non-venomous bees? You can solve simple questions such as:
Basically, insects line up in larger sizes than humans. It's also fun to fall into the illusion that we have become smaller.
The insect models are made larger so that we can learn about their ecology in more detail. For example, mosquitoes are normally too small to understand how they suck blood from humans.
However, since there are extra-large mosquitoes on display, you can observe in detail how they actually stick their stingers into humans and suck blood. Of course, you can also learn trivia such as that only female mosquitoes suck blood.
Experience the wonders of science at the Science Stage
A "science stage" is also installed on the 1st floor. A science experiment show is held here. The show by Mr. Denjiro is popular.
The science stage has 100 seats spread out in a staircase pattern. You can sit back and enjoy the powerful show.
The content of the show is said to be among the best in the country. Mushitech World is something that Sukagawa City is spending money on from the perspective of regional revitalization.
Due to the city's efforts as a business, the quality of not only the shows but Mushitech World as a whole is extremely high. This is not a facility for deceiving children.

The most popular stag beetle is of course held down.
The stag beetle is the symbol of Mushitech World. The most popular insect among boys is the stag beetle. Of course, Mushitech World has a corner where you can touch stag beetles.
There are many rare overseas and familiar domestic stag beetles on display, including the Regius stag beetle, the Rosenberg's stag beetle, the Japanese stag beetle, and the common Japanese stag beetle, and you can actually hold them in your hands.
Many of the boys' eyes lit up as they saw many stag beetles for the first time. Stag beetles are not the only things you can actually touch.
You can also have reptiles, such as lizards and lizards. There are many mothers who scream at this point, but the children, not only boys but also girls, are playful and have fun touching it.

Become an airplane pilot at Flight Academy
https://www.instagram.com/p/BWT6wo1hi4R/The highlight of the 2nd floor is the SUKAGAWA Flight Academy. This is a flight simulator that allows you to experience flying an airplane.
Scenic flight courses and flight lesson courses are available.
The most casual option is the sightseeing flight course, where up to four people can ride at the same time. Take turns sitting in the driver's seat. You can fly over Fukushima. It will take off from the Fukushima airport, travel around the Fukushima sky, and then land at the original airport. It's so realistic that adults are often fascinated by it.
The light lesson course can actually improve your piloting skills. Target students are 5th grade elementary school students and above.
Flight Academy requires an additional fee. The same applies to both children and adults.
■Sightseeing flight course 200 yen
■Flight lesson course
/Personal flight course 100 yen (per 1 STEP)
/Training flight course 400 yen
Outside Mushitech World
Let's actually catch insects during fieldwork
Fieldwork is planned in the fields outside the museum. Here, you can learn how to collect and identify insects with the curator, Takeshi Yoro, professor emeritus at the University of Tokyo.
There are also other programs that children will enjoy, such as how to make a secret base.
Access to Mushitech World
Mushitech World is far away from the city center and the nearest station. Therefore, we recommend accessing by private car or taxi. By private car, it takes about 20 minutes from Sukagawa IC and 15 minutes from Fukuoka Airport. By taxi, it is approximately 15 minutes from Kawahigashi Station on the JR Suigun Line.
Summary about Mushitech World
Although the name Mushitech World sounds like an insect museum, it is actually a complex facility that has not only insects, but also many science experience corners and flight experience facilities.
The reason for its popularity is that many events are planned. As mentioned in the main text, it is characterized by the efforts of cities and regions. For example, in May 2018, an event for children was sponsored by the Sukagawa Junior Chamber.
There, various fun events are held, such as catching beetle larvae and kendama test. Admission was free on the day.
You can usually make reservations and participate in scientific experiments, crafts, and fieldwork. The appeal of this facility is that you can not only see it, but actually experience it.
