Doll's Festival

[Yamagata Prefecture] Yamagata is filled with Hina dolls. Introducing Hina dolls from each region, including Kodai Hina dolls, Kyoto Hina dolls, and Tsurushi Hina dolls!

Speaking of March, in Japan, Doll's Festival is an annual event to pray for the healthy growth of girls. In Yamagata Prefecture, there are old houses scattered throughout the prefecture that display Hina decorations for one month from around March 3rd in the modern calendar until April 3rd in the lunar calendar.

In each region, hina dolls that have been passed down from generation to generation are put on display for the general public to see at various facilities and stations called Hina Corridors.

You can also get a glimpse of the historical background of Hina Hina, such as the ancient Hina Hina that were transported through trade, and the placement of male and female Hatchlings on the right and left differently due to cultural differences.

In this article, we will introduce how the entire Yamagata Prefecture is covered in beautiful Hina dolls.

We will also introduce details such as the release date, so please read until the end.

Sakata, where trade was active with Edo, Kyoto, and Osaka, is home to many historical hina dolls that were transported by Kitamaebune ships

In Sakata's old family, the Hina dolls are extremely luxurious and have been carefully passed down, and the storehouses and tatami rooms are used to display them to the public so that locals and tourists can see them.

The Honma Art Museum in Sakata has been holding a Doll's Festival since 1945, displaying valuable Hina dolls such as Kyoho Hina dolls.

Although it is in the same city as Sakata, there are a large number of dolls, including hina dolls displayed in the former Abe family's parlor a little further away, and clay dolls that have been passed down from generation to generation, all on display to welcome visitors. Masu.

Does the sitting position of male and female chicks differ depending on the region?

In the Kansai region, where the influence of imperial court culture remains strong, Otoko dolls are displayed on the right side.

On the other hand, in the Kanto region, since the Emperor Showa stood on the right side of the Empress, it is said that male dolls were also displayed on the left side.

There are many different expressions to the doll's face, depending on the head sculptor in each region, and there are also small differences in the tiered decorations, but I will refrain from explaining them here.

In Yamagata Prefecture, there are many places where Hina dolls from both the Kansai and Kanto regions are displayed, so it might be another way to enjoy them while looking for different parts!

summary

Although we have introduced the Hina Matsuri in Yamagata quickly, there are still other places and facilities where you can see precious Hina dolls, such as ancient Hina dolls that have been passed down since the Edo period.

It's a rare sight to see the Tsurushi Hina dolls hanging all over the venue and the Kyoto Hina dolls brought from as far away as Kyoto (Kansai), so why not take this opportunity to see them only once a year? Or?
