October 24th is "Tennyo Day," established by the "Tennyo Summit Joint Declaration Municipalities," a group of municipalities associated with celestial maidens, based on the wordplay "ten (10) nyo (24) . "

Participating municipalities are

  • Kawamata Town (Fukushima Prefecture)
  • Nagahama City (Shiga Prefecture, Lake Yogo)
  • Kyotango City (Kyoto Prefecture)
  • Takaishi City (Osaka Prefecture)
  • Kurayoshi City (Tottori Prefecture)
  • Yurihama Town (Tottori Prefecture)
  • Ginowan City (Okinawa Prefecture)

It is as follows

Kawamata Town, located in the central region of Fukushima Prefecture and belonging to Date District, is home to the legend of "Kotehime," who is said to have introduced sericulture and weaving techniques to the people, and is also one of Japan's leading silk weaving regions

Saiei Textile Co., Ltd. in Kawamata Town has developed "Fairy Feather," known as "the world's thinnest silk fabric," by applying the traditional techniques of Kawamata silk, and received the Prime Minister's Award at the 4th Monozukuri Nippon Grand Prize in 2012
