Japan's Three Most Scenic Views Day (Miyagi Prefecture)

The three locations of Matsushima (Miyagi Prefecture), Amanohashidate (Kyoto Prefecture), and Itsukushima (Hiroshima Prefecture) were referred to as the "Three Scenic Views of Japan" in 1643 by Hayashi Gaho, a Confucian scholar of the shogunate during the early Edo period.

For this reason, the Japan's Three Scenic Views Tourism Liaison Council has designated July 21st , which is Hayashi Gaho's birthday, as "Japan's Three Scenic Views Day."
