Before the merger, Fujiya Dairy Industry was established in 1962 as a joint venture with Fujiya , and produces sweets made with raw milk collected from dairy farmers in Ichinoseki City and surrounding area.

The station opened in April 2018 when the Murone Bypass on National Route 284 opened, and has disaster prevention functions to become a support base for the Sanriku Coast coastal region in the event of a disaster.
