Yagiyama Bennyland, where dreams roll!

Bennyland

It's no exaggeration to say that this commercial song became so famous that it's the Miyagi Prefecture anthem.
The parody version became a cheer song for the Tohoku Rakuten Golden Eagles, and it became famous nationwide. The amusement park known for this song is Yagiyama Bennyland.

Yagiyama Bennyland is a long-established establishment with over 50 years of history, and
is one of the theme parks representing Sendai, a city of one million people.

The recommended attraction is the roller coaster "Corkscrew"

As the name suggests, the Corkscrew is an attraction with its course that is built on a screw.
The thrill of being tossed around on the multiple spiral courses is very popular with students and adults alike!

Bennyland has something for everyone, from thrill-seekers to family-friendly attractions, and another must-try attraction is the go-karts

Go-kart

Don't underestimate the go-karts at Bennyland, thinking, "You can find them anywhere!"
In fact, the go-kart course at Bennyland was updated in 2006!
The location has been relocated, and the long course, now about 400 meters long, is surprisingly technical.

If you're a man who wants to show off to your kids or girlfriend how cool you are, be sure to give it a try!

Yagiyama Zoo is where you can have a hands-on experience with animals!

A recommended spot at Yagiyama Zoo is Fureai no Oka

Fureai no Oka

Renovated in 2017, this "Fureai no Oka" is a facility where you can have direct contact with animals.
The attraction is that you can observe animal behaviors that you normally can't see at a zoo, such as feeding goats and rabbits and watching birds take off up close on a free flight!

There is another hidden spot at Yagiyama Zoo
that we

This is the Babe Ruth statue.
Why is a statue of a major league superstar standing in a zoo?
In fact, there is a surprising connection between Babe Ruth and Yagiyama Zoo.

The site of Yagiyama Zoo's African Zoo used to be a baseball field.
In 1934 (Showa 9), a friendly match between the American Major League All-Stars and the All Japan team was held, and Yagiyama was one of the venues for the match.

It was at this baseball stadium in Yagiyama that Major League Baseball hero Babe Ruth hit the first home run since arriving in Japan.
To commemorate his achievements, a bronze statue of Babe Ruth was erected in 2002 (Heisei 14) on the site of the former Yagiyama Baseball Stadium.

If you're a baseball fan visiting to support Rakuten, be sure to stop by to see the Babe Ruth statue in Yagiyama!
And why not reminisce about the famous games that once took place in Sendai?
