Iwaki Yumoto Onsen is an old hot spring that is visited by 350,000 tourists every year. Its origin dates back to the Nara period. In the past, it was called Sanbako-no-Oyu. At that time, it was called one of Japan's three oldest hot springs, along with Dogo Onsen and Arima Onsen.

It has attracted many tourists both in the past and now. This time, I would like to introduce a public bath called "Sahakonoyu" that is especially easy to use for sightseeing in Iwaki Yumoto Onsen.

A hot spring town is located northwest of Yumoto Station. 28 inns are members of the inn association. Three of them have public baths. These are ``Kami-yu'', ``Miyuki-no-yu'', and ``Sahako-yu''.

Among these three, "Sahako no Yu" is the most popular. It is especially popular as an inn where tourists can easily stop by.

"Sahako no Yu" was founded in October 1995. It has a purely Japanese-style exterior, and many people take pictures of it because it looks great on Instagram. Although it is a large and impressive building, only half of the first floor is used as a public bath. Unlike the outside, the inside is just a regular public bath.

The second floor is a space that explains the history of Yumoto Onsen. A number of materials are on display. The third floor is a large hall. As its name suggests, ``Sahako no Yu'' is a facility where you can spend the whole day relaxing.

Let's go to the bathroom

To take a bath, first buy a ticket at the ticket vending machine. I will give it to the lady at the reception. There is a PIN code box for your valuables, so please keep them there.

There are two bathrooms: ``Happiness Bath'' (Hinoki Bath) and ``Treasure Bath'' (Rock Bath). The bathrooms for men and women change daily. Both are indoor baths.

Kofuku no Yu has an octagonal bathtub and a small bathtub. The water in the smaller bathtub is said to be hotter. However, many people feel that the water is not as hot as boiling water.

The temperature of the source is 59.7℃. It is a discharge type. As soon as you enter the bathroom, you can smell the smell of sulfur. The hot water is crystal clear.
