Shiroishi Umen Restaurant “Nakajima” Station Store

Shiroishi Onmen (Umen) is a typical gourmet dish in Shiroishi. Onmen was born here in Shiroishi in the early Edo period. It is considered a type of somen.

However, while somen noodles are generally eaten cold, onmen noodles are literally warm. Unlike ramen, it does not use oil, so it has a gentle and simple taste. Another reason for its popularity is that it is a healthy Japanese food.

If you want to try umen, we recommend Nakajima, located right in front of Shiroishi Station.

Nakajima was founded in Shiroishi as the first restaurant specializing in warm noodles. Its history dates back to 1970. Just like in the beginning, the noodles are boiled only after receiving the order.

The recommended menu is the three-flavored udon noodles for 973 yen (excluding tax).

Three dipping sauces are available: sesame, walnut, and soy sauce. This is the signature menu that has been there since the store opened.

This is a long-established Japanese confectionery shop founded in 1899. It is a famous restaurant that is said to be known to everyone in Shiroishi.

The signboard is brown sugar manju. Another popular work among Katakura Kojuro's fans is ``Joshu Monaka.'' ``Shiraishikawa Senbonzakura'' is a mild-tasting madeleine that is also a top seller.

In addition to Japanese sweets, the store also has many Western sweets. Usually, at these stores, the items are packed in boxes, so you often have to buy them as a set.

However, at Takajin, they are individually wrapped. You can freely choose what you like one by one and add it to your basket. The great thing about it is that you can create your own set.
