Yamaniwa Rock

Rairaikyo is a wonderful spot for people of all ages and genders! [Miyagi Prefecture]

It's a 50-minute drive from Sendai Station. The Natori River flows along Akiu Onsen Village, a canyon lined with strangely shaped rocks.

It is approximately 1 km upstream and downstream, across the intersection at the entrance to Akiu Onsen. Its name is "Rairaikyo."

You'll see the kanji in the name, but the highlight is just stones! stone! stone! ! There is stone art created by nature over thousands of years.

By the way, the name was Komiya Toyotaka, a German literary scholar who was a student of Natsume Soseki. Don't you think it has a stylish naming sense that represents a landscape that is overwhelming with stones?

Reimagio has recently become famous as a sacred place for couples! If you take a look at Instagram, you'll see new images uploaded one after another on every holiday!

This time, we will introduce Rairikyo Gorge, a famous spot in Akiu that can be enjoyed by men and women of all ages!

A promenade lined with strangely shaped rocks!

The entrance to the Lei Gorge promenade is just next to National Route 48. It is located on the side of a bridge called Hoodbashi, at the entrance intersection of Akiu Onsen.

The promenade is about 680m downstream from the Peek Bridge.

The path surrounded by trees and rocks is nicely shaded, and it's nice that even in the summer, it's not too hot. You can enjoy it in less than an hour, so you'll want to take a leisurely stroll while listening to the sound of the river flowing. As we enter the promenade, a number of strange rocks appear in front of us.

A typical rock is

strange-faced rock
Strange-faced rock (Kimeniwa)
Yamaniwa Rock
Hachiken Rock
Tenx Rock
Ten-o-no-iwa

With no prior knowledge

“This is a strange-looking rock.”

The name is sure to be convinced even if you say that. It would be interesting to give your own name to your favorite rock!

The rocks aren't the only highlights. The flowers and flowers blooming next to the promenade also add to the mood of a walk.

hydrangea

The image shows the scenery I walked in July.
July was the hydrangea season for Akiu. This is the charm of walking around the Lei Gorge, where you can enjoy the nature of each season.

Rairikyo looks great on Instagram! ? What are the recommended points that are popular among young people?

It was only recently that Lei Gorge became a popular spot for young couples.

In fact, in January 2014, Reikyo was certified as the sacred site of lovers, "Nozokibashi♡Heart" the "Lovers' Holy Land Project"

Speaking of Hobibashi, it is the bridge at the entrance intersection of Akiu Onsen. It's the entrance to the promenade. When I looked into Lei Gorge from above the peeking bridge...

There's a heart-shaped depression in the rock!
This is exactly the peep bridge ♡ heart!

It's surprisingly easy to find, so it's recommended not only for lovers but also for families with small children!

Be sure to look for it before a walk on the promenade or before you take a break after your walk!

What to do after enjoying Rairikyo?

Reimagiri is close to Akiu Onsen.

After enjoying the stroll, you'll want to go to the hot springs, but why not take a stroll around some of the spots that Akiu can enjoy before that? NEFT features several tourist attractions in Akiu. Let's introduce some of them here.

Sendai Kaleidoscope Museum

This museum mainly deals in kaleidoscopes, which is rare in the world.

Akiu Village

This is a representative facility in Akiu, where you can buy direct produce and souvenirs.

There are many ways to enjoy, such as taking a break while eating Yaki Yaki and Akiu Oden at the food court, or watching the handmade market held on the weekends! I would like to try the tea foot bath "Chaporin"

Housewife's shop Saichi
