Akiu Village is a new leisure facility that has opened in Akiu.
With its spacious grounds and neat exterior, you'll want to stop by.

To help you make the most of Akiu Village, we spoke with Fujino-san, the store development manager at Igeta Tea Co., Ltd., the operating company!

We asked about the appeal of Akiu Village!

-What kind of facility is Akiu Village?

This is a product center that you can use all day to your satisfaction, with a direct sales store selling vegetables grown in Akiu and local vegetables from the surrounding area, Kikusuian Agrie no Mori store where you can watch the local Sendai-Akiu sweet "Sennichimochi" being baked through the glass inside the facility and where you can purchase sweets and tea such as the popular "Kikufuku", a souvenir sales corner selling products made with zunda and beef tongue, perfect as a Sendai souvenir, as well as the popular "triangular fried tofu", and a food court corner where you can enjoy meals with family and friends such as sanzokuyaki, vegetable pizza, and matcha gelato

There is also a park called Wanpaku outside where you can have fun playing with your children, so you can use it not only for shopping but also for walks and picnics

- Wanpaku has old-fashioned play equipment like stilts, so it looks like it would be fun for the whole family!
By the way, I heard that Akiu Village also has a facility called "Chapporin." What exactly is that?

This is a one-of-a-kind tea footbath that uses Igeta Tea.
The hot water is poured from a large teapot-shaped ornament, creating a very interesting design.
You can enjoy your meal while looking out at the view of the trees outside, and on sunny days it is often full to capacity with families, making it extremely popular.

The name "Chapporin" has a meaning and is a combination of "tea + warm + refresh + luck (un)."

If you have come from far away or have been touring Akiu and are feeling tired on your feet, please come and relax and unwind from your travels

- A tea foot bath?! That sounds interesting! I'll have to go and try it later!
Another thing I'd like to draw your attention to at Akiu Village is the "Akiu Oden," but how is it different from regular oden?

This hearty oden is made with Sendai's specialty triangular fried tofu, stuffed with seasonal vegetables and beef tongue, another Sendai specialty, making it very satisfying to look at and to eat

When you open it with chopsticks or take a bite, you feel excited wondering what will come out first

It's delicious to eat as is, but it's also delicious with a little miso on the side

-Thank you for sharing your recommended way to eat it!
Finally, please tell us what you recommend about Akiu Village!

Akiu Village holds various events throughout the year, including
sales of seasonal sweets, tea, vegetables, and fruits.

They regularly sell handmade goods and miscellaneous goods, bamboo crafts and knitted dolls that can only be purchased here, and also hold participatory events such as mochi pounding, as well as coffee and food tasting sessions

We hold many fun events, such as selling burgers and drinks from a mobile vendor

(For each event, we will announce it through flyers etc. around the time of the event, or we will respond to inquiries by phone if the dates have been decided.)

Please feel free to come and visit us with your friends

—Thank you very much for taking the time to interview us!
