When you think of Aomori Prefecture, the first thing that comes to mind is the Aomori Nebuta Festival. Held every year from August 2nd to 7th, it is one of Japan's most famous festivals and has been designated an Important Intangible Folk Cultural Property. The Nebuta floats, which artisans have spent many years crafting, are several times the size of a human and are captivating to see

Located just a one-minute walk from Aomori Station, Wa-Rasse opened on January 5, 2011, so that tourists can see Nebuta floats anytime. Award-winning Nebuta floats are displayed every year, allowing visitors to enjoy Nebuta throughout the year.
In addition, there is a relaxing space with a panoramic view of Aomori Port, and a shop full of Nebuta goods and Aomori crafts, making it recommended for those who want to relax and learn about the history of Nebuta.

Everyone knows about the Sannai-Maruyama Ruins!
When studying history, the Sannai-Maruyama Site is an archaeological site that inevitably comes up. Located in Maruyama, Yamauchi, Aomori City, Aomori Prefecture, the Sannai-Maruyama Site is the remains of a large settlement believed to have existed from the early to middle Jomon period. Designated as a National Special Historic Site, it is one of the few places where you can experience ancient history firsthand. With
volunteer guides who offer tours of the site, screenings of excavation records, and opportunities to observe pottery restoration work, it's a place where you can learn about history up close, making it highly recommended for families to visit.

What is the truth behind one of the world's largest mountaineering incidents? Mt. Hakkoda Snow March Disaster Museum
This museum displays materials related to the Hakkoda Snow March Disaster, which was the subject of the film "Mt. Hakkoda" starring Takakura Ken. Outside the building, multi-lined pine and Somei-Yoshino cherry trees, designated as historic and natural monuments by Aomori City, are planted, making it a popular cherry blossom viewing spot in spring. Next to the museum are the neatly lined gravestones of soldiers and the Kohata Army Cemetery, where the soldiers who died in the incident are buried. A look into the history of the Seikan Ferry! Seikan Ferry Memorial Ship Hakkoda Maru
The Survivor Ferry connected Aomori Port and Hakodate Port for 80 years from 1908, carrying 160 million passengers and 250 million tons of cargo, and is famous for making a major contribution to Japan's economic growth. After being retired from active service, the Hakkoda Maru was revived as the Aomori City Port Cultural Exchange Facility and the Seikan Ferry Memorial Ship Hakkoda Maru. Not only can you learn about the history of the Seikan Ferry, but you can also tour the engine room and wheelhouse, learning about the inside of the ship that you normally can't see. It's located just a one-minute walk from Aomori Station, so why not stop by for a casual visit?
