Akita Prefecture "Prefectural Anniversary"

On August 29, 1871(July 14, Meiji 4), following the abolition of the feudal domains and the establishment of prefectures, Akita Prefecture, Honjo Prefecture, Iwasaki Prefecture, Kameda Prefecture, and Yashima Prefecture were established, and the firstAkita Prefecturewas born.

Later, in December 1871 (November 1871), following the first merger of prefectures, the second Akita Prefecture was established by combining the above five prefectures with Kazuno County and the former Nikaho territory, and the current boundaries of Akita Prefecture were finalized in April 1872 (February 1872)
