The day the Tohoku Shinkansen line was fully opened

On December 4, 2010 (Heisei 22), approximately eight years after the opening of Hachinohe Station,Shin-Aomori Station on the Tohoku Shinkansen line opened, connecting Shin-Aomori Station to Tokyo Station in 3 hours and 23 minutes.

Thirty-nine years after the development plan was decided,the Tohoku Shinkansen line opened to traffic on this momentous day.

The day Ai (asteroid) was discovered (Miyagi Prefecture)

Asteroid Mego (愛) was discovered on December 4, 1994 , by Masahiro Koishikawa, an astronomer from Miyagi Prefecture, at the Aiko Observatory of the Sendai Astronomical Observatory

It was named after Megohime, the principal wife of Date Masamune, the first lord of the Sendai Domain
