Yoshitsune Memorial (Iwate Prefecture)

April 30th of the leap year of the fifth year of Bun'ei (around mid-June in the Gregorian calendar), Minamoto Fujiwara no Yasuhira who had accepted a request from his half-brother, Minamoto no Yoritomo . He committed suicide at the young age of 31 with his wife and children at the Koromogawa Mansion in Hiraizumi, Oshu. This day is now "Yoshitsune Memorial Day," and has become a seasonal word for early summer haiku.

The Spring Fujiwara Festival is held every year from May 1st to 5th Minamoto no Yoshitsune Procession on the East Coast .
