Kenji Memorial Service (Iwate Prefecture)

This is the anniversary of the death of Kenji Miyazawa, a poet and children's author from the Taisho to early Showa periods .

fairy tales"Night on the Galactic Railroad"and"Matasaburo of the Wind,"and the collection of fairy tales"The Restaurant of Many Orders,"was born on August 27, 1896 (Meiji 29) in Kawaguchi-cho, Hanamaki, Iwate Prefecture (present-day Toyosawa-cho, Hanamaki City).

He is known for creating works rooted in Buddhist (Lotus Sutra) faith and peasant life, and for coining the word "Ihatov," which he used to describe the utopia that appears in his works, based on his hometown of Iwate Prefecture

In 1926 (Taisho 15), he established a private school called "Rasuchijin Kyokai" at his second home in Shimonokozakura, Hanamaki Town

On September 21, 1933 (Showa 8), he passed away from symptoms believed to be acute pneumonia. He was 37 years old at the time of his death.
