The Aomori Prefectural Museum of Art is an art museum that opened in July 2006, and is referred to by locals as the "prefectural beauty." Located next to the Sannai Maruyama ruins, its architectural design incorporates many elements inspired by the ruins' excavation sites.

It is a building with two floors above ground and two floors underground, with a large geometric cut in the ground similar to an excavation site, and the top is covered with white painted bricks. Huge irregularities have been created on the ground and bricks, and inside the bricks there is a pure white exhibition space called the "White Cube", and in the gaps created by the irregularities on the ground there is an "earth" exhibition room where the soil is exposed. It is made. Parts of the clay walls will be torn down and rebuilt for each exhibition, so it is expected that a patchwork-like beauty will emerge.

Exhibition rooms and a creative yard have been created in other spaces, allowing the entire building to be used as a museum. A permanent exhibit that can be photographed is the Aomori Inu, a work created by Yoshitomo Nara that is integrated with the architecture. It is a large work measuring 8.5 meters in length and is a symbol of the Aomori Museum of Art. There are even people who come to see the ``Aomori Inu''. On the second basement floor, there is a huge exhibition room called "Aleko Hall" with a four-story atrium, which features Chagall's work Pushkin's poetry, Rachmaninoff's music, and three background paintings (vertical) of the ballet "Aleko" choreographed by Leonid Massine. 9m wide and 15m wide) can be seen at once.

In addition to the exhibition space, a theater and community gallery have been built to accommodate viewing of video works and artistic activities by prefectural residents.

The collection includes works by artists from Aomori Prefecture such as Shiko Munakata, Shuji Terayama, and Yoshitomo Nara, as well as works by artists from outside the prefecture, and works by foreign artists such as Picasso, Matisse, and Chagall. To commemorate the opening of the museum, an exhibition featuring many of Chagall's works was held. A permanent exhibition room has been set up for Shiko Munakata, and in addition to prints, oil paintings and hand-drawn paintings are also on display.
