The area called Kita-Sanriku, which includes Kuji City, has no bay, and its coastline faces the Pacific Ocean, where sea urchins, sea squirts, seaweed, and abalone are abundantly caught.

In particular, Hirono Town boasts the largest amount of sea urchins in Iwate Prefecture due to the ``Nanbu Moguri'' tradition passed down in the Taneichi area, and ``Nanbu Diver'', who was featured in ``Ama-chan'', is a student at the Taneichi High School Ocean Development Department. It is cultivated.

Every year during the sea urchin season from June to August, restaurants in Hirono Town serve fresh raw sea urchin rice bowls, but this year, on July 16th, the ``Taneichi Sea Urchin'' event will be held on July 16th. The festival will be held for the first time in four years.

Oranda Island Beach (Yamada Town)

From the Yamada Town Tourism Association official website

There are two beaches in Yamada Town, Uranohama and Kojin, but the recommended little-known spot is the beach on Oranda Island, an uninhabited island in Yamada Bay.

The island's name comes from the fact that during the Edo period, Dutch ships stopped here to avoid storms.

It has the feel of a private beach, and when you swim in the crystal clear water, small fish will come close to you, which is a fun experience you won't find at other beaches.

However, although there are toilets and changing rooms on the island, there are no restaurants or vending machines, so be sure to bring your own food and drinks.

Please note that you can reach the island by a reservation-only cruise ship that makes five round trips a day, but if you wish to land on any other ship, you must apply to the town in advance.

From the Yamada Town Tourism Association official website

At Yamada Bay Observation Square in Orikasa, Yamada Town, there is a ``white door'' that is depicted as the ``back door'' that appears in the movie ``The Sparrow's Door Shuttle.''

This is because the scenery of Yamada Town is depicted at the end of the movie."Pilgrimage to sacred places"As the number of fans visiting increased, it was installed in this plaza overlooking Yamada Bay.

The door is covered with ivy and has burnt marks, reminding me of scenes from the movie.

Let's do our best Rikuzentakata! “A miraculous pine tree” that watches over the city

From Iwate Prefecture Tourism Portal Site

At that time, while 70,000 of its friends were washed away, this pine tree, the only one left, gave the devastated people indescribable courage and strength to live.

However, due to salt damage to the ground where the roots spread out, the tree finally ran out of strength and was cut down, but it was then treated with embalming and restored to its original location in 2013, and has been preserved as a power spot symbolizing recovery.
