[Fukushima Prefecture] Elephants at Tohoku Safari Park break side mirrors with their trunks! The king of beasts bites tires! ?
table of contents
The highlight of Tohoku Safari Park is the free-range area.
The best part of Tohoku Safari Park is the free-range area. You can rent a loaner car and drive yourself. You can also enter with other people on the park bus. Many people use loaner cars to enjoy the thrill of the ride. The dilapidated condition of the loaner car arouses fear. In particular, there are very few that have proper side mirrors. Most of the time, it's completely broken. This is the work of elephants. Apparently elephants break it off with their trunks. If you want to experience it up close, choose a car that still has at least one side mirror, although it is rare. If you do that, you might be able to watch the side mirror being taken away right in front of your eyes...!
Strictly follow the precautions in the free-range area! If it breaks...
When entering the free-range area by loaner car, the staff will tell you things to be careful about. First, never open windows in carnivore areas. Never go outside the vehicle. If you open the window thinking it's far away, a lion may suddenly come and surprise you. The second point is something that we tend to do inadvertently. That is, don't stop. If you stop, the tires will bite and you won't be able to move forward. In the unlikely event that your tire gets chewed up and gets a flat tire, keep sounding the horn and the staff will come to your aid.
There are only lions in the carnivore area! The herbivore zone is full of cute animals
Lions will welcome you in the safari zone. In particular, lions are the only carnivorous animals. There are no cages or fences, so you can get up close to the lions if you wish. In the herbivore area, there are deer and alpacas. The animals move slowly, so you can enjoy a leisurely tour. In the herbivore zone, windows are allowed to be opened. You can open the window and feed the alpacas. A powerful feeding scene has been uploaded to YouTube.

Lunch at the safari restaurant!
There is a safari restaurant located almost in the center of Tohoku Safari Park. Many people have lunch here. The inside of the store has the feel of a Showa era diner. It's a meal ticket system. There is a souvenir corner at the back of the restaurant. There is a cute lion stuffed animal that was scary until just now, which is soothing.
