table of contents
JR Sendai Station is now transforming into a super exciting tourist station.
Previously a central facility in Sendai that emphasized functionality and convenience, JR Sendai Station has evolved into a tourist station with the theme of "a station that makes you want to go somewhere just by visiting it."
This time, we'll focus on Sendai Station, the gateway to Miyagi Prefecture!
The Yorimiichi Portal is full of local information!
History, crafts, and local cuisine of Sendai and Miyagi.
If you're traveling to Miyagi Prefecture, you'll want to know all sorts of information.
The content in travel guides is pretty much the same no matter which book you look at. But
if you can learn information unique to the local area, you can enjoy Miyagi in a different way than most people.
In such cases, we recommend using the "Yori Unknown Portal."

On the second floor of Sendai Station,
next to the stained glass window, a popular meeting spot, is a newly opened information hub called the Yori Michi Portal, where you can find plenty of tourist information about Sendai, Miyagi Prefecture, and even the Tohoku region!
Here, we will introduce six pieces of content available at the Yori Michi Portal.
- This
information terminal has a convenient concierge function, such as creating model sightseeing courses and routes.
You can print out travel information, so it's a great place to tinker with before sightseeing.
If you want to wander around Sendai city, the rental bicycle service DATE BIKE is convenient.
registration machine, you can rent a bicycle without any time limit from the port on the south side of the west exit of Sendai Station on the first floor.
There are about 40 ports in the city, and you can conveniently return the bicycle to any of them.- Digital Railway and Tourism Diorama:
The beautiful nature of the Tohoku region is recreated in a digital diorama.
You can enjoy each landscape without having to go to the location, so you'll never get bored of looking at it!
It also includes footage of seasonal scenery and festivals, so it can be a great reference for your next trip! - The Yorimichi Movie
is a visual work that can be enjoyed using all five senses.
By making full use of directional speakers and vibration speakers, you can experience the background music not just with your ears but with your whole body.
What surprised me was the snow scene.
When you put your feet on the steps provided, you can enjoy the feeling of walking on snow!
I would definitely recommend this experience to tourists who have never experienced snow! - Event bulletin board:
Sendai and Miyagi event information is posted here.
You can view the information for the day, so it's a facility you should check first when you arrive at Sendai Station! - Traditional Crafts Exhibition
Kokeshi dolls and other handicrafts from Tohoku are on display.
Inherited techniques, people who continue to preserve traditions, and crafts that change with the times.
Tohoku's handicrafts, which allow you to feel the weight of history and the warmth of people, are something you should see at least once.
Such crafts are on display at the Yori Michi Portal.
After getting some information, why not take a look around for a bit before you leave?
Get to know Miyagi better by searching for unknown items!
