What is “Mirai no Mori Sendai 2023”?

The National Urban Greening Fair "Mirai no Mori Sendai 2023" is one of the largest events to be held in Sendai City in 2023. The purpose of this event is to raise awareness and disseminate knowledge about urban greening, with the theme "The future begins in the City of Forests, where people shine through greenery." In addition, urban greening is being promoted with the cooperation of the national government, local governments, and the private sector.

This will be the first national urban greening fair held in Sendai City in 34 years, since the ``'89 Green Fair Sendai'' was held in 1989.

Mirai no Mori Sendai 2023 , the Aobayama Park Oimawari District Venue, is located on the banks of the Hirose River, and the nearest station is Kokusai Center Station on the Sendai Municipal Subway Tozai Line.

There will be signboards along the way to the venue, and event volunteers will be on hand to guide you, so you can get to the venue smoothly.

When you pass through the main entrance, the first thing that greets you is the ``Welcome Garden,'' which is inspired by the bamboo decorations from Sendai's traditional festival, ``Sendai Tanabata Festival.''

Large flower bed "Hanabata Festival"

The large flower bed ``Hanabata Kazari'' that decorates the main venue is inspired by the streamers from the ``Sendai Tanabata Festival'' and the Date family's polka dot patterned tabards, which give you a sense of Sendai.

The main attractions are the flowing colors of the flowing band-shaped flower beds made up of 120,000 flower seedlings of approximately 200 varieties, and the fact that the color of the flower beds changes from the first half of the season to the second half. Part of the large flower bed was designated as a ``large flower bed created by everyone,'' and citizens also participated in planting flower seedlings last fall and before the opening.

At the food stand Sendai, which is permanently set up in the main venue, you can casually enjoy light meals such as onigiri and cutlet sandwiches made with local ingredients, local beer, and gelato decorated with edible flowers.

We will have a lineup of Sendai and Tohoku's proud local and craft beers, as well as local gourmet food that goes perfectly with beer.
