[Ryozan Town, Fukushima Prefecture] Full of nature! Ryozen Children's Village where you can play and learn

``Ryozen Children's Village'' is located at the foot of the Fukushima Prefectural Natural Park ``Ryozan'' and is a spot where you can play with your body in an environment that makes use of nature as it is, and experience art indoors.

There is also an accommodation facility with an auto campsite and hot spring facilities on the premises, and you can also enjoy a barbecue! This time, I would like to share with you a report about my time playing at Ryozen Children's Village.

The symbol of Ryozen Children's Village! jumbo slide

Ryozen Children's Village, located at the foot of a sacred mountain, takes advantage of the slope of the mountain and has a variety of athletics and rides within its vast grounds. In addition to play equipment such as skycycles and battery cars, there is also a hiking course that takes you around the park, allowing you to enjoy the park's seasonal nature.

Among them, the symbolic jumbo slide is very popular!
The jumbo slide that has been around since I was a child is about 25 meters wide and 15 meters long.
The surface is rough, so children's village style is to put cardboard on their butts and slide on it! Everyone can skate at the same time. The view from the starting position is amazing. It takes some courage at first, but don't worry, you won't be sliding down at high speed. The children climbed and slipped over and over again. (Cardboard is sold for 50 yen each)

Retro and thrilling ride experience

Climb Little Sacred Mountain and aim for a vehicle on top of the mountain!

After playing on the jumbo slide, we will aim for the top of the mountain to conquer the rides in the children's village! Next to the jumbo slide, there is a course called "Little Ryozan" that imitates the rocky area of the sacred mountain. You can have a small mountain climbing experience.

sky cycle

The first thing I saw while doing athletics was the popular "Sky Cycle". This is a two-seater vehicle. You can cycle through the air as if you were cycling while pedaling.

Noppo Cycle

As we continued up the mountain, we came across the Noppo Cycle.

Noppo Cycle is a type of cycle that has a rail at the bottom. It's an interesting and unusual vehicle. This is also done by pedaling.

cycle train

Further up Noppo Cycle is the ``Cycle Train.'' A mini coaster where several people pedal together to move the train as it moves through the greenery.

Although it is a mini coaster, the downhill curves create a centrifugal force that even adults can enjoy the thrill of! Pedal together when going uphill.

Battery car (small car)

After conquering the rides and going down the hill, a battery car came into view. Here you can put 100 yen and run. A battery car that even small children can ride safely will make your child's dream of riding a car by themselves come true.

The battery car is also located near the free rest area, so even children who can't walk to the top of the mountain can play there.

Experience art and science indoors

The indoor facility ``Museum of Play and Learning'' opened in 1994 as Japan's first full-fledged participatory children's museum.

The entrance is on the second floor. On the second floor, there are workshops where you can make handmade musical instruments and observe insects. Some workshops require advance reservations, so we recommend checking the website in advance. There is also a special exhibition space, a picture book library, face painting, manual turning pictures, and other experiences.

There will be workshops that both children and adults can enjoy.

The museum on the first floor, located at the bottom of the stairs, has equipment that reproduces various natural phenomena that occur on Earth, and you can learn about the occurrence of tornadoes and waves. You'll never get tired of looking at the large music box with its mechanism and the illuminated globe.

Baby-friendly rest area

You can bring your own lunch to the free rest area near the entrance of the facility, so feel free to bring your own lunch and take a break. A nursing room is also available. There is a mini-bouldering space in the rest area, and you can play with miniature cars right next to it, so you can have plenty of fun even with babies and small children.

If you're tired of playing, refresh yourself in the bath at "Kosaikan"

After playing a lot, let's take a bath at Kosaikan, an accommodation facility located on the same grounds, and work up a sweat. It is said that the ``Sacred Mountain Carrot'', which has been growing wild in the rocky areas of Sacred Mountains since ancient times, is dried and added to the bath. You can enjoy a panoramic view of the sacred mountain from the bath that uses spring water from the sacred mountain.
