[Craft Beer in Iwate Prefecture (Morioka City and Northern Area)] 7 Unique Local Beers!

Iwate Prefecture has the most craft beer breweries of any of the six Tohoku prefectures, and each brewery produces fresh beers with unique flavors

As of June 2022, there are 12 breweries in the prefecture, and here we will introduce breweries in the northern part of the prefecture, including Morioka


Baeren Beer (Morioka City and Shizukuishi Town)

Baeren Brewery is a pioneering brewery in Iwate Prefecture, producing a variety of beers, including German-style beers made using traditional methods, as well as seasonal beers. Its popular ales, such as chocolate stout, and apple "dry cider" are also popular

The breweries in Morioka and Shizukuishi each produce different beers, and draft beer can be enjoyed at four directly managed pubs and restaurants in Morioka

Cucina, an Italian restaurant in Saien, Morioka City, has become an ambitious microbrewery producing craft beer under the production of Baeren Brewery

Nanbu Craft (Morioka City)

A Morioka-based home renovation company renovated a model house in Yahata-cho in the city and began brewing craft beer under the name Nanbu Craft in March 2022

In addition to selling bottles in growlers, you can enjoy tasting fresh beers along with delicious food at the company's Sakurayama store in the city

Akatsuki Brewery (Hachimantai City)

Akatsuki Brewery in Tokyo has opened the Akatsuki Brewery Hachimantai Factory and released four varieties of "Dragon Eye," an organic beer made with spring water from Mt. Iwate

It is served by the glass at two of our directly managed restaurants in Tokyo

"Dragon Eye" is a natural phenomenon in which Kagami-numa, near the summit of Hachimantai, looks like the eye of a dragon when the snow melts

This beer is brewed using natural water from the Ou Mountains by Okinawa's Helios Brewery, which has taken over the facilities of Ginga Kogen Beer in Sawauchi district, Iwate Prefecture's heaviest snowfall area, located on the border with Akita Prefecture

Yukino Chikara is a brand launched by Nishiwaga Town, and in addition to beer, it sells a variety of local flavors online

This microbrewery opened in front of JR Hanamaki Station in 2019 and brews delicious beer with the concept of "New Hanamaki with craft beer!"

The direct store "Lit Work Place" has a brewery and cafe on the first floor, and a taproom on the second floor where you can pour yourself a selection of nine types of beer

In northern Iwate Prefecture, the breweries we introduced above each hold Oktoberfests and other events, but there are no large-scale events
