[Inawashiro Town, Fukushima Prefecture] Just like the original scenery of Japan! Enjoy cherry blossom trees along the Kanonji River and Inawashiro gourmet food
table of contents
Inawashiro Town is located in the center of Fukushima Prefecture, between Koriyama City and Aizuwakamatsu City, and is home to Mt. Bandai, one of Japan's 100 Famous Mountains, and Lake Inawashiro, the fourth largest lake in Japan.
Did you know that Inawashiro Town, which has many leisure and sightseeing spots where you can enjoy nature, has a line of cherry blossom trees that stretches for one kilometer?
This time, we would like to introduce you to the Kannonji River Cherry Blossom Tree Row, which is reminiscent of the original landscape of Japan.
We will also introduce recommended Inawashiro gourmet food that you can enjoy together with cherry blossom viewing.
A tunnel of cherry blossoms spreads out in a peaceful rural landscape
The row of cherry blossom trees along the Kanonji River is a famous spot for cherry blossoms that can be seen on both banks of the Kanonji River for approximately 1 kilometer.
In addition to the Somei Yoshino cherry tree, you can see the beautiful cherry blossoms that were awarded by the Japan Cherry Blossom Society in 1997, including the Edohigan cherry tree, the weeping cherry tree, and the mountain cherry tree.
The Kanonji River, which flows right next to Kawageta Station on the JR Banetsu Nishi Line, is a small river with no bank protection construction, so the contrast created by the green banks and the cherry blossoms in full bloom that fill both banks gives you a sense of tranquility and nostalgia. It makes you feel.
Usually, the best time to see the cherry blossom trees along the Kannonji River is late April.
In 2023, it is expected to bloom earlier than usual, with the expected blooming date being April 12th. Full bloom is expected to occur on April 19th.
Amazing! 7 colors of light up
During the cherry blossom blooming period, a ``Sakura Festival'' is held at Oyamataka Shrine in the middle of the river, stalls are set up along the cherry blossom trees along the river, and various events are also held.
The cherry blossoms are illuminated at night, and are only seen in Inawashiro in the prefecture, which is one of the few cherry blossoms in the country to be illuminated with seven colors of LED lights.
You can see a fantastic view! (Information on the 2023 Cherry Blossom Festival is undecided as of March 31, 2023)
3 Recommended Inawashiro Gourmet Selection

[Soba Ohori main store]
``Soba Ohori Honten'' is a soba restaurant located in an old folk house. It gives you a nostalgic feeling of eating at your grandma's house.
We use 100% pesticide-free, self-grown buckwheat flour, and we are famous for our soba noodles, which are made using a special method to bring out the best flavor, our hearty wild vegetable tempura, and our freshly made rice cakes.
The white, glossy soba noodles are thin and chewy, and go down your throat easily.
Tempura made with seasonal wild vegetables is also recommended. The aroma and bitterness of the wild vegetables will spread in your mouth.
