The festival brings together festivals from six cities in Tohoku, which was held in Sendai in 2017, Morioka in 2018, Fukushima in 2019, postponed in 2020, Yamagata in 2021, Akita in 2022, and will complete its cycle in Aomori in 2023. It will return to Sendai in 2024

Highlights of the Tohoku Kizuna Festival 2024 in Sendai
At the main venue, Sendai Nishi Park, you can enjoy a variety of Tohoku gourmet foods, local beer, wine, etc., as well as exhibitions of Nebuta and Fukushima's giant straw sandals, and stage events such as Nebuta dances and Akita Kanto performances. There are plenty of things to see, but personally, the best attractions the parade and the Blue Impulse !
A parade that brings together six festivals representing the Tohoku region
Kizuna Festival is all about the parade! The Aomori Nebuta Festival, Akita Kanto Festival, Morioka Sansa Odori, Yamagata Hanagasa Festival, Sendai Tanabata Festival, and Fukushima Waraji Festival, all representative summer festivals from each city in Tohoku, come together and parade through the city.

Summer festivals in Tohoku are all held at very similar times, so if you take into consideration things like finding accommodation, you're usually lucky to see one, or at best two, in a season. However, at the Kizuna Festival, you can experience all six festivals at once!
Of course, the scale of each festival is smaller than the main festivals held in various places, but I think there are few people, even from Tohoku, who have been to all of the festivals, so being able to experience them all is a valuable opportunity!

Blue Impulse demonstration flight
And on Saturday the 8th, the Blue Impulse will be flying! The other day, the roar of an airplane suddenly echoed through Sendai city, causing a bit of a stir among the Sendai residents, but it seems they were practicing for a demonstration flight at the Kizuna Festival.

The demonstration flight will take place on Saturday, June 8th from 11:00am to 11:30am , flying over Sendai city, with the Aobayama Park venue (Kawauchi, Aoba Ward, Sendai City, Miyagi Prefecture) as the main venue. A pre-training flight is also scheduled for the same time on the previous day, Friday, June 7th, from 11:00am to 11:30am at the same location !
If you can't make plans for the day, you may be able to see it by looking up at the sky in Sendai city the day before

In the green belt of Jozenji-dori, a food and drink event will be held in collaboration with the various vendors and six sake breweries from Tohoku. This event will continue until 9:00 PM, even after the Kizuna Festival ends, making it the perfect time to toast under the night sky while the excitement of the festival is still fresh!
