Birthday of Uesugi Kagekatsu, the first lord of the Yonezawa domain (Yamagata Prefecture)

Uesugi Kagekatsu , the first lord of the Yonezawa Domain and one of the Five Great Elders of the Toyotomi regime, was born on November 27, 1556 (January 8, 1556) in Sakado Castle town, Ueda-sho, Uonuma District, Echigo Province (present-day Minamiuonuma City, Niigata Prefecture), as the second son of Nagao Masakage, head of the Ueda Nagao family.

He was adopted by his uncle, Uesugi Kenshin , a daimyo of the Sengoku period who was also from the Nagao family , and changed his name to Uesugi Kagekatsu.

Asteroid HamadoriLowell, was discovered on November 27, 1999 , at the Observatory in Flagstaff Arizona, USA

It was named on May 9, 2012, in honor of the "Hamadori" region of Fukushima Prefecture , which suffered extensive damage following the Great East Japan Earthquake
