What is "Future Forest Sendai 2023"?
The National Urban Greening Fair "Future Forest Sendai 2023" is one of the largest events to be held in Sendai in 2023. The event aims to raise awareness and spread knowledge about urban greening, with the theme "The future begins with the City of Forests, where people shine on a green stage." The event also seeks to promote urban greening with the cooperation of the national and local governments, as well as the private sector
This will be the first time Sendai City has held a national urban greening fair in 34 years, since the 1989 Green Fair Sendai
The main venue
"Future Forest Sendai2023," the Aobayama Park Oimawari District Venue, is located on the banks of the Hirose River, and the nearest station is Kokusai Center Station on the Sendai Municipal Subway Tozai Line.
There will be guide signs along the way to the venue, and volunteers will also be on hand to guide you, so you can get to the venue smoothly
Welcome Garden
Once you pass through the main entrance, the first thing that greets you is the Welcome Garden, which is modeled after the bamboo decorations of Sendai's traditional Tanabata Festival

Large flowerbed "Hanabata Festival"
The large flowerbed that decorates the main venue, "Hanabata Decorations," is based on the streamers of the Sendai Tanabata Festival, which evokes the essence of Sendai, and the polka-dot battle coat worn by the Date clan
The main attractions are the flowing ribbon-shaped flower beds with 120,000 flower seedlings of about 200 varieties, and the way the color of the flower beds changes from the first half to the second half of the event. Part of the large flower bed is designated as a "large flower bed made by everyone," and local residents participated in planting flower seedlings last fall and before the opening

At the permanent Food Stand Sendai located in the main venue, you can casually enjoy light meals such as rice balls and pork cutlet sandwiches made with locally sourced ingredients, local beer, and gelato garnished with edible flowers

A variety of restaurants, from cafes to izakayas, will be set up in the main venue. You can enjoy your meal at your leisure while admiring the scenery of flowers and greenery

Food trucks will be set up not only at the main venue but also in the downtown area, with a wide variety of food trucks changing weekly, offering sweets, fast food, ramen and other ingredients from Sendai and Miyagi

We will have a wide selection of "Tohoku Wines" grown in the rich natural environment of Tohoku. You can enjoy them with local gourmet food prepared to go with the wines
Green BEER Garden
[Opening period: June 15th (Thurs) - June 18th (Sun)] We will be offering a wide selection of local craft beers that Sendai and Tohoku are proud of, as well as local gourmet foods that go perfectly with beer.
Sunset Bar
[Opening period: May 26th (Fri) to May 28th (Sun), June 2nd (Fri) to June 4th (Sun), June 9th (Fri) to June 11th (Sun)] This bar will be open during the "Future Forest Sendai Night Park" event, where you can enjoy a bonfire with the sunset as a backdrop. In addition to beverages such as craft beer, cocktails, and soft drinks, they will also be serving festival menu items.
