What is Fukushima Ouse Winery in Koriyama City, Fukushima Prefecture?

Oise Town in Koriyama City, Fukushima Prefecture is a mountain village area where you can feel close to nature
Fukushima Ouse Winery sits as if embraced by the mountains of Ouse . In front of the modern building is a spacious lawn area where markets and music events are sometimes held.
Fukushima Ouse Winery opened in 2015. It was founded as a model business that brought together fruit producers, local governments, and businesses to build a sixth-sector industrialization initiative, with the aim of promoting the recovery of agriculture, which had been damaged by the Great East Japan Earthquake. In the spring of 2019, the wine " Vin de Ollage ," made with grapes grown in Koriyama City, was shipped for the first time.
Ollage is named after the local word "orage," which means "one's home."

Lots of fruit! Fukushima Ouse Winery's lineup
Fukushima Ouse Winery sells a variety of delicious products made in collaboration with fruit farmers in the prefecture
The main product categories are as follows:
- red wine
- White wine
- rosé wine
- Sparkling/Cider
- Liqueur/Brandy
- juice
Each has its own brand, based on its place of origin or variety
For example, there is a unique limited edition bottle of red wine made using grapes grown only by a single contracted farmer. This bottle shows the love for the fruit used as the raw material and the respect for the contracted farmer who grew it
Not only wine, but sparkling wine and cider are also popular. Because it is a winery, it does not focus on grapes, but rather focuses on fruits that Fukushima is focusing on cultivating, such as peaches and apples, which is a unique product

[Review] I tried Fukushima Ouse Winery's "Apple Cider"

I bought Fukushima MEGRI CIDRE 2023 made by Fukushima Ouse Winery
Cider is a sparkling wine made from apples. It has a long history in Europe, Australia, Canada, and other places, and is said to be as popular as grape wine. Many people find cider to be "easy to drink" because it has a mild flavor and a low alcohol content
The apples used in "Fukushima MEGRI CIDRE 2023" are Yamato Orchard . This is a precious bottle made with an abundance of 14 varieties of apples, each hand-picked. The label design conveys the image of fruit circulating and connecting.

When you open the bottle and pour, it creates a light, fizzing foam. Fine bubbles form and pop. It has a freshness that is just like that of fresh fruit

The color is a light cream and it has a transparent feel. The carbonation is mild and mellow, so it may be easy to drink even for those who don't like the tingling sensation of carbonated drinks
The "Fukushima Meguri Cidre 2023" I purchased this time is a dry cider. Its taste is characterized by a refreshing acidity. It has a clean mouthfeel and a refreshing finish. It has a clear flavor that doesn't overpower the taste of food. It has no astringency, so it feels less strong than white wine
Cider pairs perfectly with pork, so be sure to try it. It brings out the flavor of the meat and helps to wash away the fat
