table of contents
Hachinohe Park in Hachinohe City is one of Aomori Prefecture's most representative parks. It covers a vast area of 37 hectares (approximately the size of eight Tokyo Domes)
It is divided into three main areas: an amusement park, a botanical garden, and a zoo. In spring, approximately 2,000 cherry trees bloom in full bloom. It has been selected as one of the 88 places along the Tohoku Dream Cherry Blossom Road, and is one of the most famous cherry blossom spots in the Tohoku region
In addition, over 700 roses are a sight to behold in early summer and autumn. This time, we will introduce Hachinohe Park, a place of relaxation that Hachinohe is proud to offer
Kodomo no Kuni (Amusement Park Zone)
There is an amusement park that is reasonably priced. Ride tickets cost 110 yen each. You can ride a roller coaster with three tickets
A wide variety of affordable attractions
One of the most popular attractions is the "Family Swinger," a high-speed flying trapeze. It spins so fast you might think the chains might snap, making it thrilling in many ways. Another appealing feature is that you can ride it with just one ride ticket
Horseback riding is available only on Sundays and public holidays. Of course, you will need a ride ticket for this too. You will need three tickets, just like for the roller coaster
Because it's a pony, children can ride it without feeling scared
There are many attractions such as miniature trains, cycle monorails, go-karts, and Ferris wheels. They are all cheap and there are so many to choose from that you can have fun all day long
Especially during cherry blossom season, the ride takes you through cherry blossom trees such as Somei Yoshino, Yamazakura, and Yaezakura, so it's not just children who enjoy the ride, but many adults too
Children's Museum is a free play facility
Sanpachigo Children's Center is an indoor facility with free play equipment. There are many small children there. There is a small free climbing wall. Children are climbing with all their might
There is a giant spider net where children can roll around and play. There are always 2-3 staff members on hand to warn any children playing in a dangerous way. It is a facility where parents can let their children play without worry
(1) Craft classes are popular
The Children's Museum regularly holds craft classes called "Craft Land," which are handmade craft classes for children with different themes
For example, on September 2nd, 2018, we will be holding a "Vehicle Land" where we will make vehicles using trees and nuts harvested within the park
On September 16th, participants will create owls using nuts and other materials also picked at Hachinohe Park. The event will run from 10am to 12pm, and the best part is that it's free to participate
Large artificial turf slopes are also free to use
There is a large artificial turf slope. Of course, you can enjoy sledding all year round. You can reach great speeds, so it's a lot of fun. The slope is free to use
Please note that they do not rent sleds, so if you want to enjoy sledding, you will need to bring your own
Many real vehicles popular with children are on display
Another feature of Hachinohe Park is the large number of real exhibits. Propeller planes, locomotives, fire engines, a ship called "Hachinohe Maru," helicopters, and more are all on display. Children will love it
The locomotive is a genuine D51 steam locomotive, and you can sit in the driver's seat to experience what it's like to be a driver
The propeller plane is a B-65, which was actually used by the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force. It's very realistic and moving
You can not only look at the squid fishing boat "Hachinohe Maru," but also go up onto the deck and enter the boat. The best thing about it is that you can actually see and touch the boat
You can also enjoy the zoo
In the zoo area, you will be greeted by cute squirrels and ducks that are popular with girls. There is also Monkey Mountain, where the northernmost monkeys live. In winter, the reservoir on Monkey Mountain is filled with hot water, allowing you to watch the monkeys soak in the hot water
When there are newborn baby monkeys, you can have the chance to feed them. If you are lucky enough to see a baby monkey, give it a try
There are many animals you can interact with, including squirrels, ducks, rabbits, and African spurred tortoises
Barbecues and camping
https://www.instagram.com/p/BiMbnNuFM-o/You can enjoy a barbecue in the outdoor Wanpaku Zone. It is equipped with covered tables and a kitchen, so you can enjoy a barbecue in comfort
For a limited time, camping is available, and the campsite is free
A peaceful stroll through the botanical gardens
There is a botanical garden where you can appreciate a wide variety of plants. There is also a rose garden and a Japanese garden. Gardening classes such as flower arranging and Christmas wreath making are held
Many of the roses in the garden are named after princesses from around the world, such as Queen Elizabeth, Diana Princess of Wales, and Princess Michiko
Princess Aiko, created to celebrate the birth of Princess Aiko, is especially popular. There are many rare roses, so it is a must-see spot for rose lovers. The best time to see them is June and October
Summary of Hachinohe Park
Hachinohe Park is a large park with a variety of areas scattered throughout, from an amusement park to a zoo, botanical garden, and lawn plaza. The best thing about it is that most of the amusements are either very cheap or free to enjoy
Admission is free, so you can visit anytime. There is also a large parking lot, so you don't have to worry about it filling up like you would at an amusement park in the city
There is so much to see and do in one day, so we recommend taking the time to visit Hachinohe Park during your trip. It is a particularly great spot for families with small children
