The author of "Grandpa and Grandma Rejuvenate" Arai Kagiri, a native of Hirakawa City, Aomori Prefecture . His previous work, "I Want to Get Along with My Childhood Friend," was a standard romantic comedy, so he wanted to write something completely different. He didn't intend to make it a commercial work at first, but after posting it on his own social media accounts, it was well-received, leading to an inquiry about publishing it as a book.
The reason he chose Aomori as the setting for the story that he was born and raised in Aomori, and he also says that he has a strong attachment to his hometown.
