Katagami City in Akita Prefecture has developed a new product called "Katagami City Akita Komachi," which is Akita Prefecture's signature brand of rice, packed in a specially designed rice bag featuring Akita's Namahage motif. The city has begun accepting orders as a gift in return for Katagami City Hometown Tax donations

Joint development with a local rice sales company

This product was jointly developed in collaboration with Komachi Line Co., Ltd., a rice sales company in Katagami City. Akita Komachi, a brand of rice from Akita Prefecture that is highly regarded nationwide and painstakingly grown by local farmers in Katagami City, is packed into a rice bag with a Namahage motif, a symbol of Akita Prefecture's traditional culture

Currently, it is only available for sale in limited quantities through Katagami City's hometown tax donation program, but in the future it is planned to be sold at the online shop of co-developer Komachi Line Co., Ltd., and at the Tennou Green Market inside Tennou Roadside Station in Katagami City, Akita Prefecture

After eating the rice, make a mask!

Once you've used up all the rice, you can cut up the bag and assemble it to use as a traditional Akita "Namahage" mask. Instructions for making the mask are also included on the back of the bag

Lineup and donation amounts

The pages are divided by rice milling method, and you can choose your preferred method from "brown rice," "white rice," and "unwashed rice."

Additionally, for brown rice, you can specify the polishing method in detail on the reward page, such as "three-quarters polished," "five-quarters polished," or "seven-quarters polished."

All items are accepted in different quantities of 5kg bags, and prices vary depending on the weight

• 5kg (5kg bag x 1): 13,500 yen (tax included)
• 10kg (2 x 5kg bags): 23,500 yen (tax included)
• 15kg (5kg bags x 3): 34,000 yen (tax included)
• 20kg (5kg bags x 4): 45,500 yen (tax included)

Where to buy

Currently, it is only available through Rakuten Furusato Nozei, but it is expected to soon be available on other hometown tax donation sites such as Furusato Choice and Furunavi
