The day the Tsuchizaki air raid took place (Akita Prefecture)

of August 14, 1945 (Showa 20)to the following day, August 15, the US military carried out a large-scale air raid targeting the area around Tsuchizaki Port in Akita City, Akita Prefecture.

The air raid, which targeted a large oil refinery in Tsuchizaki Port, is believed to have involved more than 100 B-29 bombers and lasted from 10:30 PM on August 14th to around 3:30 AM on August 15th

The bombs used included 7,360 100kg bombs and 4,687 50kg bombs, resulting in the complete destruction of the oil refinery and extensive damage to the port and urban areas
