Aomori Station opened on September 1, 1891 (Meiji 24)

At the time, the train schedule was as follows: the southbound train departed Ueno at 2:45 PM and arrived in Aomori at 5:10 PM the following day(travel time: 26 hours 25 minutes), and the northbound train departed Aomori at 12:50 PM and arrived in Ueno at 10:10 AM the following day(travel time:21 hours 20 minutes). There was only one train per day in both directions.
