The day the Kitakata Incident occurred (Fukushima Prefecture)

On November 28, 1882 (Meiji 15), following the arrest of leaders of the Freedom and People's Rights Movement, over a thousand (or possibly as many as three thousand) farmers gathered at Danjōgahara (Shinoegi, Shiokawa-machi, Kitakata City, Fukushima Prefecture), armed with machetes, clubs, and rakes.

The protesters went to the Kitakata Police Station, where they clashed with police officers, resulting in a bloody incident

This incident, known as the Kitakata Incident , began with the forceful construction of the Aizu Sanpo Road by Michitsune Mishima, who assumed the position of Governor of Fukushima Prefecture in February of that year

This incident is considered part of the Fukushima Incident, a civil rights escalation case in which opposition arose because the government proclaimed that local residents should be forced to participate in construction work, that money should be collected from those who did not participate, and that the property of those who did not actually work on the construction should be auctioned off .
