October 19, 1952, is the anniversary of the death of Bansui Doi, a poet and English scholar from the Meiji to Showa periods, who was born in Kitakajimachi, Sendai Prefecture (present-day Kimachidori, Aoba Ward, Sendai City, Miyagi Prefecture ) .

With his masculine, classical Chinese-style poetry, he was considered a figure of the "Fujiban era," alongside Shimazaki Toson, who had a contrasting, more feminine style. He is also known as the lyricist of "Kojo no Tsuki" (The Moon Over the Ruined Castle) , a song famously composed by Taki Rentaro .

He is famous for writing the lyrics to school songs all over Japan, but after losing his wife and children one after another, he became interested in parapsychology and was involved as an advisor in the establishment of the Japan Society for Psychic Science in 1946 , making him a man with an unusual background.
