What is “Moglanpia”?

there are three national oil reserves:

"Mogulanpia" is an underground aquarium science museum that uses the working tunnel at its underground petroleum storage base. Therefore, in addition to the aquarium, the building also has exhibition facilities related to oil reserves, such as the Petroleum Culture Hall and the Petroleum Theater and Exhibition Room.

The factory equipment visible from the rooftop observation deck is the ground equipment of the Kuji National Petroleum Reserve Base.

By the way, you can tour the oil storage base-related exhibition facilities such as the ``Oil Culture Hall'' and ``Oil Theater/Exhibition Room'' for free.

Access to “Moglan Pia”

"Kuji Underground Aquarium Science Museum Mogranpia" is located along the coast of Kuji Bay.

By car, it takes about an hour from Kunohe Interchange on the Hachinohe Expressway, and about 20 minutes by car starting from JR Kuji Station.

By Shinkansen, it takes about 70 minutes to JR Kuji Station by JR Bus "Swallow" from Ninohe Station. After that, I switched to a civic bus from Kuji Station. Take the Samuraihama Line to get off at Hanzaki (bus stop), and you can arrive in about a 10-minute walk from here.

As you can see from the above, access by car is overwhelmingly convenient, especially when accessing from outside the prefecture.

Sakana-kun and many other fish will welcome you!

The facilities related to the aquarium are the underground aquarium and the "Sake Kun Corner" on the 4th floor.

There are 3,000 sea creatures on display, with a distinctive feature of the tunnel aquarium. Many fish are swimming in all directions of the arched aquarium. The green sea turtle, Kamekichi, who is said to have survived the Great East Japan Earthquake, passes elegantly overhead.

At the "Sake-Kun Corner" on the 4th floor, you can see exhibitions and illustrations of fish that the fish carefully raised, as well as white coats and costumes that the fish actually painted.

You can chat with Ama divers at Kuji's sea tank!

The new exhibition that was added after the reopening the Kuji Sea Aquarium . This aquarium recreates the Sanriku sea near Kuji. It is a large one, at a height of 2.6m. On weekends and holidays, a dive of a northern ama, who also attracted attention in the drama "Amachan." This has become a very popular event.

Ama divers not only show you how to dive, but also answer questions while in the tank. Of course, they can't talk, so they use a drawing board to communicate. The communication becomes comical and the venue is filled with laughter.

At Moglan Pia, you can see Sanriku creatures such as sea squirts, as well as fish from around the world.

You can interact with lots of fish!

There are also events where you can interact with the fish. Feeding is especially popular. There's also the much-talked-about doctor fish, and when you put your feet in the aquarium, countless fish will eat your dead skin until it becomes slippery. Recommended for people who want to experience natural peeling.

There is also a ``petting aquarium'' that you can use as is. Put your hands directly into the aquarium and feed the fish. In the touch pool, you can touch starfish and sea cucumbers directly. Recommended for curious and brave children.
