What is Mohodori Distillation Research Institute?
Mohodori Distillation Research Institute is an apple brandy distillation facility operated by Sunapple Brewing Japan Ltd., and is primarily an agricultural company that grows apples, soybeans, wheat, barley, etc.
"Mohori" means owl in the Tsugaru dialect. The owl has long been known as a beneficial animal that preys on voles, which are a pest to apples, and is the guardian deity of apple orchards, hence the name of the distillery.
We manufacture apple brandy using a continuous distillation kettle equipped with two stills that can distill 1200L of mash (a raw material made by crushing and fermenting apples) manufactured by Germany's Arnold Holstein Company.
The company's flagship brand, "LOVEVADOS Apple Brandy," will sell its first barrel-aged product in limited quantities in 2023. It was well received.
