Onagawa Station

It is no longer at the level of reconstruction! ? Amazing reconstruction in front of Onagawa Station

Six years have passed since the disaster.
Onagawa Town in Miyagi Prefecture has developed into a rich and beautiful tourist destination.
We want people to experience the charms of the town itself, rather than just taking a tour of the disaster area.
Perhaps this desire is creating a new Onagawa.

This time, we will introduce the newly reborn area in front of Onagawa Station!

Seapal Pier Onagawa

Seapalpia Onagawa is a shopping street with tenants located in front of Onagawa Station.
27 shops are lined up along a brick street that resembles a park with a beautiful view of the sea.
It is not only a tourist facility, but also a hub for the lives of the people who live in Onagawa.

a mini supermarket and barber shop to a women's clothing and accessories store and a pharmacy, Seapalpia is home to
shops essential to people's daily lives, including cardboard product manufacturing and sales, guitar manufacturing and repair, original handmade goods sales, and Spanish tile sales. One of the attractions of Seapalpia is that it is creating new ways of working for the people living in Onagawa.

Of course, tourists can also enjoy Seapalpia Onagawa.
At the Spanish tile shop, you can purchase original pieces that can only be found here, and you can also try painting them, so you can get not only something but also a memento.
At the cardboard workshop, Lamborghinis and Damborghinis made out of cardboard are on display.
Onagawa is the only place in the world where you can see them up close, so it's definitely a place you'll want to check out!

Of course, there are plenty of restaurants to choose from.
In addition to freshly caught seafood, you can enjoy Onagawa's unique cuisine, such as "Hoyaki Soba," a fried noodle dish made with Onagawa's specialty sea squirt, and "Wakame Udon," which uses farmed wakame seaweed that originated in Onagawa.
What's more, a restaurant that appeared in the TV drama "Solitary Gourmet" has relocated to Seapal Pier, making it a recommended new local specialty.

The wide, straight brick road overlooking the sea also serves as a guidepost in times of emergency.
The brick road leading to safe high ground serves as an evacuation route in times of emergency.
No matter how many people gather, the brick road is wide enough to allow them to evacuate safely.
We hope that it will become a symbol of protecting Onagawa's future.

In this way, this "place" where the everyday and the extraordinary can come together continues to create bonds between local residents and tourists as a new symbol of the newly reborn Onagawa

Hama Terrace

is
a local market located in a corner of Seapalpia Onagawa. You can enjoy locally caught seasonal seafood while looking out at the sea in the port town of Onagawa.
Some shops are like a food court, while in the back there is a lively seafood restaurant, so you can choose how you like to enjoy your meal!
Of course, you can also purchase seafood and processed marine products!

This new tourist facility allows you to fully enjoy two ways of enjoying Onagawa: "eating" and "experiencing" its charms. You won't want to miss it!

Onagawa Onsen Yupoppo

Located next to Onagawa Station is Onagawa Onsen Yupoppo.
Its recommended points include the quality of the spring water, but above all, the scenery.

From the spacious rest room at the entrance to the large public bath on the second floor, you can enjoy a bird's-eye view of Seapal Pier Onagawa.
There is also an observation deck on the third floor of the station, so if you want to enjoy a wider view of Onagawa, head up there!
The first floor of the facility is a souvenir corner.
If you're looking for souvenirs to take to work or school, this might be a better choice than Seapal Pier!

If you don't feel like soaking in a hot spring, we recommend the foot bath located right outside the station!
It's the perfect place to soothe tired feet after enjoying Sea Palpia Onagawa!

Why don't we all join together to help nurture Onagawa, which continues to evolve?

The area in front of Onagawa Station has recovered from the disaster and has now been reborn as a major tourist destination.
However, Onagawa's evolution is not over yet.
To achieve this, it needs the support of many people.

Please visit Onagawa at least once a year.
And why not join us in helping to nurture the ever-growing Onagawa?
Let's all work together, both inside and outside the town, to make it even more wonderful than before!
