[Misawa City, Aomori Prefecture] “Misawa Aviation Science Museum” is full of rare aircraft! Experience the air pocket

Aomori Prefectural Misawa Aviation Science Museum is one of the largest aviation science museums in Japan. There is also a large area outside the science museum. It is large enough to fit two Tokyo Domes. This is an aviation plaza called "Misawa City Ozora Plaza." There is also play equipment, so many people spend time there with their families.

Sky plaza where 11 aircraft are enshrined

There are 11 aircraft installed in the plaza. There are famous aircraft such as F4 and F16. This is the only place outside the base where you can see these aircraft. Not only can you see it, you can also experience riding it. The boarding experience is held on supersonic fighter jets F-104J and T-3.

You can tour the inside of two of the UP-3A planes, which carry high-ranking U.S. Navy officials, and the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force plane.

Rare aircraft are also on display inside the museum.

This is the only twin-engine advanced training aircraft left. This is a very rare aircraft. In the past, 1342 aircraft were built by Tachikawa Aircraft. The aircraft inside the Misawa Aviation Science Museum was pulled up from the bottom of Lake Towada in 2012. It lay dormant at the bottom of the lake for 69 years. Materials showing the process of evacuation are also on display. There are many people who come to see the aircraft, where a realistic drama comes to life.

It is characterized by the many rare aircraft on display that are irresistible to enthusiasts. In addition to the ones introduced above, there is also the YS11, the first domestically produced aircraft after the war, the aircraft called ``Zero Fighter Type 21'' that flew in the movie ``Isoroku Yamamoto (2011)'', and the world called ``Miss Beadle''. It features the aircraft that made the first non-stop crossing of the Pacific Ocean.

A staff member is standing near the aircraft in the building. They will answer your questions thoroughly. You will be given an explanation of the unknown episodes and history of each aircraft. If you look around while listening to the story, you will gain a deeper understanding.

The experience corner in the science zone is popular

The attraction of the Misawa Aeronautical Science Museum is not just watching airplanes. The science zone, where you can experience things like flying, is also gaining popularity. In particular, many people said they enjoyed the free-fall experience device called "Probe IV."

This "Probe IV" allows you to experience the air pocket phenomenon. Inside a large tube, a capsule with six passengers is lifted up by the force of air. The airflow is then stopped, creating an air pocket and causing a momentary fall. You can enjoy an extraordinary experience.

In addition to this, there are other projects that allow students to experience various sciences. It's a place where both adults and children can enjoy.
